Spring Break 2015

Spring Break was fab-u-lous. A week of pure relaxation in the middle of a busy semester is exactly what we needed.

This year, my family and I traveled to 6 different islands within 8 days. #busybees to say the least. We flew into San Juan, Puerto Rico for the kick off our trip and spent one night there. Our cruise left from there the next day, so we had an afternoon and night to hangout on the beaches!

The next day we boarded the Cruise, turned our phones off and were off the grid for an entire week.  We had a Day at Sea the first day aboard. Then we traveled to Barbados, St. Lucia, Antigua, St. Maarten and St. Croix. Hands down the coolest week of my life.

Here are some pictures form our trip:

 First stop: Barbados!
We had the opportunity to see where Rihanna grew up!

Harrison's Cave. Allen View, Barbados. If you every have the chance to go, GO. Check out their website here!

 Next Stop: St. Lucia!

On to Antigua!
One of the coolest days of the trip.  We did twelve zip lines through the rainforest. Honestly, kinda scary at first because you are responsible for stopping yourself. Marjorie Ann's GoPro died after the first zip (almost cried. Not kidding).

 First formal night on board.

My favorite place in the entire world: St. Maarten.

 Miley buns for the win.

Final stop: St. Croix

Beach days are my favorite days.
Great week spent with family and friends.

XOXO,

Heather

Experiencing God

One of my New Year's Resolutions this year is to blog often about things that are on my heart.  Recently I started the Bible Study Experiencing God. If you are looking for a great way to grow closer to Him, I highly suggest you check it out.  It's a 13 week daily study that really seems to be making a steady impact on my life.

As I go through this 13 week journey, I am going to write about a few things that I feel could potentially impact many people. I am already 2 weeks in, so I'm just going to do a small recap and pick up from here.

One thing that has always been heavy on my heart is my anxiety. I always seem to be anxious about something from school to the future to what I am going to wear out (this list could go on forever).  As I have been going through this study and diving deeper into the Word, learning to lean on him has become easier day by day. I've always thought of myself as an independent person that really doesn't need any help. One of my biggest struggles is vocalizing that I have to be 110% dependent on Him. Giving up ANY control whatsoever has never been a strength of mine (ask any of my friends. They know). So, the cheesy saying "Let go and let God" is a lot easier said than done, but it's getting easier day by day.

With all that being said, here are five of my favorite verses that I've been clinging to the past two weeks.

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” - Matthew 11:28-30

"Casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you." - 1 Peter 5:7

"Let go of your concerns! Then you will know that I am God. I rule the nations. I rule the earth."- Psalm 46:10

“Don’t you know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, for God bought you with a high price.” -1 Corinthians 6:19-20a

“And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.” – Phil 4:19

For the remainder of these 13 weeks, I am going to continue to work on surrendering all control to the Lord and focus more on a God centered life. So pumped to see where this goes!
