Today, I am thankful for...

I will be honest. I am one of those people that completely skips over Thanksgiving and jumps right into the Christmas spirit.  My roommate and I decorated our room a week ago and have been listening to Christmas music since November 1st.  It never occurred to me that we were skipping the November holiday until we heard a girl on our floor say, "Poor Thanksgiving.  It gets so over looked."

I am not upset about decorating early or listening to Christmas music, but I am upset with myself for ignoring what Thanksgiving is about. We all have so much to be thankful for.  So, in honor of a week until Thanksgiving and break starting tomorrow, here are just a few things that I am thankful for each day.

10. Oxford

First and Foremost

Hello! My name is Heather Neilson and welcome to my blog! When I had the idea to start this, I had no idea what I wanted to write about. So, I decided that the best way to start this is to tell you about me.

I am a 19 year old college sophomore attending the University of Mississippi.  I am majoring in both Nursing and Integrated Marketing Communications.  I know that they are on opposite ends of the spectrum, but I have such strong interest in both and cannot just pick one.  I am a member of the Tri Delta sorority on campus and am very involved in Student Government.  I love being involved here because it allows me to meet so many people outside of my close group of friends.

I am from Oxford, Mississippi, so no I did not travel far to attend college. Six minutes to be exact. I get asked all the time what it is like to attend college in your hometown. I absolutely love it! It gives me an advantage that I am very blessed to have.  Being the oldest of four,  living here allows me to go see my eight year old brother, Philip, play baseball. I also get to watch my sisters, Rosemary and Marjorie Ann, cheer and perform.  My family and I are very close, so I enjoy being here to watch them grow up.

There are so many things I want to accomplish in this life.  Each day I think of something new I would like to do to better the world.  I want to go into Nursing because I want to better people's health.  I have an interest in Integrated Marketing Communications because I love all the aspects of Public Relations.  I also enjoy politics and aspects of the American government.

As you can see, my interest are very spread out, but isn't that what college is about? Figuring out what you were made for and what God put you on this earth to accomplish? I am just your average college girl trying to get by with a little help from my family and friends.

The direction of this blog is subject to change at any point. So, sit back, hold on tight, and let's see where this goes!
