Friday Favorites

Friday Favorites.  I like it.  Recently, I talked to my friend Chandler about doing a weekly blog post of things I find throughout the week.  I am a Pinterest addict (so a lot will come from there) but a good bit will actually come from things I've done throughout the week.  I will also be posting outfits I love and attempting to post a link to where you can purchase the clothing or pieces similar to them.

So, introducing the first of many, Welcome to Friday Favorites!

Cheers to Trying New Things

Yes, I am wearing camo in the pictures below.  I had to blink twice at 5:00 AM Saturday morning to make sure I was seeing things correctly, too.  If you know me, you know this is way out of my element.  Shockingly, I am not really known as a "hunter gatherer." I know that may come as a shock to most people. Surprisingly enough, this past weekend in Arkansas was so much fun.  My friend, Fran, invited a few of us to her hometown for a weekend of "Trying New Things." I think I tried more new things this past weekend than I have in my entire life.  We woke up early Saturday and went duck hunting. We even got our limit (I am not sure exactly what "limit" means, so I just went along with it). That afternoon we even cleaned the ducks. Don't worry, I wont spill to many details on that because I would rather not explain the process.
The best surprise of the weekend was the Coon Supper. Fran didn't tell us where we were going until ten minutes before we left.  The neighboring town has an annual supper to provide scholarships for each of the graduating seniors. The dinner was so neat.  The entire town gathered in the old high school gym for this event.  We all tried raccoon because we assumed it would be good since there was a whole evening dedicated to it. Apparently, no one eats it because it is disgusting. At least now we can all say we tried something new!

I even wore waders. Dad, be proud.

Finishing the hunt Phantom of the Opera style. Well..kinda.

Cleaning the ducks. Again Dad, be proud.

Arkansassy, thanks for teaching me your ways. Until next time.

Ringing in the New Year in New York

I could not have finished out 2013 in a better way.  My friend Haley and I spent this past week in New York City. We had six days to pack in everything we wanted to do. As we were boarding the plane to head back home, we realized we did it all. I could list out our day to day adventures, but we all know a picture is worth a 1000 words, right?

We finally arrived in the City.

 chrysler building

The Wharf, an Ole Miss bar in the City.  Seriously, the coolest place ever. We were able to watch the Rebs beat Georgia Tech!

Serendipity 3. Need I say more?

NYE Preparations in Times Square.

Esquire Magazine with Harry and Haley.

9/11 Memorial

Wall Street Bull

Good Ol' George

Stock Market. One of my favorite buildings in the City.

Rockefeller tree. Christmas time in New York is unlike any other.

New Years Eve in Times Square. Every New Yorker's reaction to us going to Times Square was the same, avoid it. We decided that since we were there, we had to do it. It was one of the coolest things we have ever done. We met some of the nicest people that helped pass the time and made friends with the NYPD. When we saw the ball drop, everyone went crazy.  That was one of the most memorable nights of our lives.

Central Park

My favorite place in Central Park. I am a Gossip Girl fanatic, so standing where Blair and Chuck got married was a life time achievement.

The Met steps. Just call me Blair.

After we saw the Broadway show, Chicago, we stepped out into a Blizzard. Literally. Our flight for the next morning was cancelled. 8-10 inches of snow. It was some winter storm, but in all honesty, we were totally fine with being stranded in the City!

Since our flight was cancelled, we were lucky to have an extra day there! We decided to brave the wind and the crowd to see the Today Show.  We ended up being two of the few crazy people who got out in that weather, so we actually got to be seen on TV!

Until next time, New York. Can't wait to see you again soon.
